Economic Activity Is Bouncing Back in Hohoe

Hohoe, June 18, GNA-Economic activity is gradually bouncing back in Hohoe after last Monday’s communal clash between the indigenes of Hohoe and the Muslim youths that led to loss of lives destruction of property.
Most shops including the banks have opened but public schools remained closed even though there were announcements for resumption of academic work.
Dr Margaret Kweku, Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive, said stakeholders are meeting to resolve the continuing closure of schools.
At the Hohoe main market, Ghana News Agency observed that business was not as brisk as it used to be and most stalls belonging to Kotokolis and Muslim traders were empty.
Ms DzifaAhiadeke, a trader, said business was slow compared to the usual brisk Monday market days and blamed it on the absence of traders who brought wares from the surrounding villagers as a result of the curfew.
Mr Buhari Gibrilla, Assemblyman for Bla Electoral Area, said an appreciable number of members of the Zongo community had returned and described the situation as encouraging.
He expressed gratitude to Vice President John DramaniMahama, Sheikh Usman Nuhu Sharabutu, the National Chief Imam, Togbe Afede, President of Volta Regional House of Chiefs, Togbui Sri, the Awomefia of Anlo, Brigadier-General Martin Ahiaglo, General Officer Commanding the Southern Command and other eminent chiefs from the region for their roles in ensuring peace returning to the area.
