Mankrong-Junction Police hunt for farmer for defacing posters

Mankrong-Junction, July 20, GNA – Mr John Kwei Agyabeng, Member of Parliament (MP) for Agona East, has cautioned party supporters in the Constituency to refrain from acts that could mar the December general election.
He said the electioneering campaign is not about tearing of posters and materials of political opponents but a process to elect national leaders.
There is, therefore, no need for people to commit electoral offences that could lead to prosecution and loss of lives, he said.
The MP cautioned party supporters not to engage themselves in issues or acts that could affect the chances of their parties or candidates.
He expressed optimism that majority of the electorate would vote against the ruling party for failing to deliver on its 2008 campaign promises.

Meanwhile the Agona Mankrong-Junction Police are on the lookout for the arrest of a farmer at Asamoakrom who destroyed posters of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate, the incumbent MP.
According to a police source, on June 28, Mr Roger Moore, the NPP Chairman at Asamoakrom, on his usual rounds to canvass for votes, saw Ackom 21, tearing into pieces, posters of the MP pasted on the walls.
According to the source, the suspect took to his heels when Mr Moore attempted to arrest him.
The source said Mr More later reported the matter to the Police.
