Ghanaians assured of variety at this year’s Paragliding Festival

Accra, March 29, GNA – People are registering to take part in an 89-kilometre walk from Atibie to Nkyenekyene on the Kwahu Ridge.

It is being organised by Brave Hearts Expedition,  a group that has specialised in hiking,  as part of this year’s Paragliding Festival.
So far about 200 people have registered for the hike for a fee of GH¢50 and Mr Dziedzorm Segbefia, Expedition Leader, said participants would be in groups of 10.
He explained that the fee included transportation, camp tents, protective wear, food and drink and the eventual winner for the hike would receive GH¢2,000 as the grand prize.
Mr Segbefia in an interview with the GNA said the hike was organised in collaboration with the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) to add variety to the famous Kwahu Easter.
He said Brave Hearts Expedition had done an assessment of the hiking route and assured interested participants that all-risk associated with the exercise had been taken care of.
This year’s Paragliding Festival dubbed: “Kwahu 2012” is hosting other programmes including a street jam, durbar, a football match between Okwahu United and King Faisal and many other activities.
Ms Akua Sena Dansua, Minister of Tourism, who launched the Festival last Wednesday, described it as a unique attraction on the country’s tourism calendar.

She expressed the Ministry's intention to identify similar tourist attraction sites across the country and market them properly to ensure high patronage among Ghanaians.
Ms Dansua advised drivers and all road users to be extra careful during the Easter season since the period was considered the most accident prone.
She expressed appreciation to the GTA, Kwahu Traditional Council, Kwahu Development Association and other stakeholders for supporting the festival.
The theme song for this year's Paragliding Festival is "Lapaz Toyota" by Guru, a hiplife musician.
