MTN launches “Suncity Fest” in Brong Ahafo Region

Accra, July 5, GNA - MTN, the leading telecommunications company in Ghana, has launched a month-long celebration in the Brong Ahafo Region dubbed: “Suncity Fest".

A statement issued in Accra on Thursday and signed by Mrs Cynthia Lumor, Corporate Services Executive, said the event was part of MTN’s strategy to engage subscribers and other stakeholders at the regional level to strengthen existing relationships and bring the brand closer to them.

She said there were several activities scheduled to take place at Sunyani, and surrounding towns, including Kwame Danso in the Sene District and Techimantia.

Mrs Lumor explained that: "Suncity Fest" is a replication of the successful and enriched life engagements in Ashanti known as “Ashanti Fest” and the Western Region dubbed, “Oil City Fest.”

Mr James Bukari Basintale, General Manager of Northern Business District of MTN, said the Company would inaugurate two projects being undertaken by MTN Ghana Foundation in the Region.

They are an Information Communication Technology (ICT) centre for some basic schools at Techimantia and a 30-bed ward at the Sene Government Hospital at Kwame Danso in the Sene District.

The ICT centre is the third of 10 ICT centres that the Foundation is constructing in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in all the regions.

Mr Basintale said as part of the celebration there would be a health screening exercise, health walk and a community football gala.

Other activities are a seminar on investment by MTN’s partner banks and training on basic accounting skills for retailers to help them transit from basic retailers into successful entrepreneurs.

Live band performances by Amakye Dede, Nana Tuffour, A.B. Crentsil, Okyeame Kwame and other seasoned musicians in Ghana would climax the celebration.
