Andani Royal Family reacts to verbal assault on Dr Gomda

Accra, May 26, GNA – The Andani Royal Family of Dagbon in the Northern Region at the weekend condemned media attacks of Dr Yahuza Gomda, a leading member of the family in the media, describing it as provocative and unnecessary.

A statement issued by the family in Accra by Mr Baba Issifu, Secretary to the Youth Wing of the Andani Family and copied to the Ghana News Agency said the bone of contention of the rival Abudu Royal Family was that Dr Yahuza Gomda told them it was wrong to have petitioned UNDP about the raging chieftaincy dispute in Dagbon among other issues.

Mr Issifu asked people using titles such as “Bolin-Lana” or “Kampakkuyya Naa” to be circumspective since they were preserved for the exclusive use of the eldest sons of a Ya-Na or Overlord of Dagbon after the demise of their father, especially when the title user was not occupying any skin at the time of his daddy’s death.

He said no son of disenskined Ya-na can use the two titles.

He said Dr Gomda would continue to articulate the case of the Andani Royal Family to the world without fear or favour and asked his detractors to stop attacking his hard won reputation.

“After all facts are contested with reason and not passion,” he said.

Mr Issifu asked the media to desist from using their network to disturb the relative peace Dagbon is enjoying after the assassination of Ya-na Yakubu Andani II, 10 years ago.

“We also want to counsel our true Abudu royal cousins to join hands with us to restore the lost glory of Dagbon as the most powerful traditional Kingdom in Ghana by ignoring those of them who think that the way to benefit is to cause chaos and mayhem in Dagbon.”
