Accra, May 29, GNA - The Scripture Union in collaboration with other Christian organisations would organise a rally for the youth to sensitise them on the need for peaceful Elections 2012 on Monday, July 2.
The other organisations are; Bible Society of Ghana, Ghana Pentecostal Council and Ghana Fellowship of Evangelical Students (GHAFES).
The annual rally scheduled for the Trade Fair Site, La in Accra would be on the theme, “Christian Youth in Peaceful Nation Building”.
Briefing the media on the rally in Accra on Tuesday, Reverend Albert Seth Ocran, Chairman of National Youth Rally Planning Committee, noted that the event would enable the youth understand the need to pledge their allegiance to Jesus Christ and commit themselves to the quest for a peaceful nation.
“The vision of the National Youth Rally is alive, as it is evident in the high attendance recorded over the years and more importantly the glowing testimonies of how Jesus Christ has transformed their lives,” he said.
He charged government, parents, civil society organisations, development partners, and the media to work towards removing any impediment that might hinder youth development in the country.
Reverend Ocran said the rally would be used to educate Ghanaians on the need for forgiveness and embrace reconciliation by all.
“We have the conviction that recent actions and reactions by political opponents in the country have placed an obligation on us to call for peace and reconciliation in order to build a strong nation,” he said.
He said the Scripture Union in collaboration with its partners had declared June 2012 a month of prayer and fasting by the youth towards national peace.
Reverend Ocran called on churches, para-churches, corporate bodies and individuals who have the youth at heart to support the rally for the transformation of the Ghanaian youth.
