Tema, July 2, GNA - The Tema Area Scripture Union (SU) over the weekend embarked on a procession through the principal streets of Tema as part of activities marking the 60th Anniversary of the Union’s Camp Ministry in Ghana, and its Annual National Youth Rally.
The participants, drawn mostly from second cycle educational institutions in the Metropolis, began the procession dubbed “Jesus March,” from the Community Centre and ended at the Chemu Senior High School.
Some of the placards they were carrying read: “Jesus is Lord;” “SU, building tomorrow from today;” “Let’s all pray for our nation;” “There will be a peaceful election this year;” and “Love and Peace for Ghana.”
Speaking to newsmen just before the march, Mr Alexander Yankey, Vice Chairman of the Tema Area SU Camp, reminded the Youth that as leaders of tomorrow, they were duty bound to lead morally upright lives, in order to help build a peaceful and prosperous nation.
On the historical background of the Ghana Camp Ministry, Mr Yankey said, it all began in 1952 at Winneba, with only 13 boys.
He said the Ministry aims at nurturing tomorrow’s leaders today with the Word of God, and can now boast of about 50 Camps nationwide.
The group later converged at the Chemu SHS for the Youth Prayer Rally and prayed for God’s favour and blessings to see the nation through a peaceful elections in December.
