“Power of love must overshadow love for power”- Pastor

Ho, Aug. 06, GNA - The Rev Alfred Mclander, Founder and General Overseer of God’s Garden Ministries at Sokode, near Ho Sunday called on politicians to let love for one another overshadow the desire for power.

“Our politicians must simply let the power of love overshadow love for power,” he said.

Rev. Mclander said this at the launch of “Stars of Volta preach peace” album in Ho.

The event was put together by “Tony ‘D’” Company Limited and aimed at promoting peace through music before, during and after the December polls.

Rev. Mclander said politicians were major stakeholders in elections and better placed to ensure peace.

He said the talk of peace by politicians and the call on God by the citizenry would not necessarily bring peace but concerted efforts to show love to one another.

“Calling on God regularly for peace may not help us. God is playing His part so we must also play our part by showing love to ourselves and our neighbours,” Rev. Mclander said.

He cautioned against greed, a major push for power among politicians.

Rev. Mclander called on the populace to be positive minded, appreciate one another and desist from acts that would plunge the country into chaos for the selfish interest of few individuals.

Representatives of political parties stated their commitment to peaceful elections in December.

Alhaji Hamidu Mahama, Commissioner of Police in charge of Human Resource said the police would be professional at the polls and called for the collaboration of all.

Mr Kwami Senyo, Coordinator of the event, on behalf of “Tony D” Company Limited said the programme had become necessary to calm down tempers, in view of violent acts that characterized the biometric voters’ registration exercise.

The crowd which besieged the event ground was in red and black clothes mourning the late President John Evans Atta Mills.
