N/R HIV prevalence rate could be deceptive-Focal Person

Tamale, Dec. 11,  GNA –  Mr. Nuhu Musah, Northern Regional HIV and AIDS Focal Person has expressed doubts about the figures put up by the Ghana Health Service concerning the prevalence rates of HIV and AIDS in the region which puts it at 0.3 percent saying that the prevalence rate of the region could be higher.

100 millionth person receives lifesaving meningitis vaccine - WHO


Accra, Dec. 7, GNA – The World Health Organization said a revolutionary meningitis vaccine will reach the 100 millionth person this week in a region of Africa that has been plagued by deadly epidemics for more than a century.

     It stated that the milestone will take place in northern Nigeria, part of Africa’s ‘meningitis belt’, where the country is conducting its second seasonal immunization campaign against the disease.

     This was contained in a press statement made available to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Thursday by the organization.
