‘We will push Ahly for a result’ – Addo

Accra, Aug. 2, GNA – The International Relations Officer of Berekum Chelsea FC, Joe Addo says the Club will push Al Ahly for a decent result when both sides meet in a CAF Champions League Group B game in Egypt on Saturday in Cairo.

Berekum Chelsea leaves Accra on Thursday ahead of the meeting with the six-time winners and Addo told GNA Sports that ‘we are preoccupied with playing to our potentials and getting a decent result in Egypt to boost our course’.

Chelsea are on four points, two points adrift of their hosts who have won all their last two game and Addo says ‘we are motivated to go all out for the maximum points but to return from Egypt with a point will be good for us. It will mean only a point separating us and Ahly before they play us here in Ghana’.

Ahly will play without their deadly trio of Mohammed Aboutrika, Emad Moteab and Ahmed Fathi who are on duty with the Egyptian' team competing at the London 2012 Olympic Games but Addo insists the host will not be underestimated regardless.

"We are not concerned about who is and is not playing. We have planned for the team and we will not let down our guard only because their best players will be absent. Every game is being treated with the respect required and this will not be any different.:

The 'Blues' of Ghana twice staged a comeback to defeat Zamalek in Accra and drew with TP Mazembe in an away encounter in the Democratic Republic of Congo but the major talking point has been on how easily their rear let in goals.

The coaches of the Club have meanwhile seen the faults in the team's defence and are putting in strategies to plug any loop holes as they progress in the competition.

Addo however claimed the technical handlers have worked on the lapses in the defence that has proven the debutant’s weakest link.

‘The technical team is aware of the weaknesses in the defence and has worked tirelessly to correct the deficiencies.’

Chelsea pitted in Group B with Ahly, Zamalek and Mazembe will be led by tournament top scorer, Emmanuel Clottey, who has found the back of the net 11 times.

Mazembe will host Zamalek in the other Group B match in Lubumbashi.
