President Mahama wins eight out of ten regions

Accra, Dec. 13, GNA – President John Dramani Mahama won in eight out of the 10 regions in last Friday’s presidential election, regional electoral statistics obtained from the Electoral Commission by the Ghana News Agency on Thursday showed.



The presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, won in two regions.

    President Mahama won the Brong Ahafo Region with 1,125,751 of the valid votes cast representing 52.31 per cent and Nana Addo dankwa Akufo Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) placed second with 1,009,787 votes representing 46.92 per cent.

    Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom of the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP) placed third with 9,532 votes representing 0.44 per cent; Dr Michael Abu Sakara Foster of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) was fourth with 2,578 votes representing 0.12 per cent; and Dr Henry Herbert Lartey of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) fifth with 2,276 votes representing 0.11 per cent.

     Mr Hassan Ayariga of the Peoples National Convention (PNC) was sixth with 1,071 votes representing 0.05 per cent; Mr Jacob Osei Yeboah Independent Presidential Candidate seventh with 835 representing 0.04 per cent and the eight was Mr Akwasi Addai Odike of the United Freedom Party (UFP) with 425 votes representing 0.02 per cent.

   President Mahama  won the Central region with 492,374 votes representing 52.12 per cent followed by Nana Akufo Addo with 430,135 representing 45.53 per cent; and Dr Nduom third with 13,873 votes representing 1.47 per cent.

    Dr Lartey was fourth with 4,258 votes representing 0.45 per cent; Dr Sakara fifth with 1,295 representing 0.14 per cent; Mr Ayariga sixth with 1,072 votes representing 0.11 per cent; Mr Yeboah seventh with 963 votes representing 0.10 per cent and Mr Odike 716 votes representing 0.08 per cent.

     President Mahama won the Greater Accra Region with 1,125,751 representing 52.31 per cent and Nana Akufo Addo followed with 1,009,787 representing 46.92 per cent.

     Dr Nduom was third with 9,532 votes representing 0.44 per cent; Dr Sakara fourth with 2,578 votes representing 0.12 per cent; Dr Lartey fifth with 2,276 votes representing 0.11 per cent; Mr Ayariga sixth with 1,071 votes representing 0.05 per cent; Mr yeboah seventh with 835 votes representing 0.04 per cent; and Mr Odike occupying the last position with 425 votes representing 0.02 per cent.

    The Volta Region fell to President Mahama who obtained 734,641 votes representing 85.46 per cent; Nana Akufo Addo second with 111,149 votes representing 12.93 per cent; and Dr Nduom third with 3,952 votes representing 0.46 per cent.

     Dr Lartey was fourth with 3,239 votes representing 0.38 per cent; Mr Yeboah fifth with 2,190 votes representing 0.25 per cent; Dr Sakara sixth with 2,187 votes representing 0.25per cent; Mr Ayariga seventh with 1,353 votes representing 0.16 per cent; and Mr Odike last with 907 votes 0.11 representing.

     President Mahama won the Western Region with 582,193 votes representing 54.42 per cent; followed by Nana Akufo Addo with 468,517 votes representing 43.80 per cent; and Dr Nduom third with 8,599 votes representing 0.80 per cent.

     Dr Sakara obtained 3,757 votes representing 0.35 per cent for the fourth place; Dr Lartey fifth with 3,458 votes representing 0.32 per cent; Mr Ayariga sixth with 1,274 votes representing 0.12 per cent; Mr Yeboah 1,215 votes representing 0.11 per cent and Mr Odike 746 votes representing 0.07 per cent.

     In the Upper West Region, President Mahama won with 186,134 votes representing 65.54 per cent; Nana Akufo Addo had 83,098 votes representing 29.26 per cent; and Mr Ayariga third with 4,933 votes representing 1.74 per cent.

    Dr Nduom placed fourth with 3,095 votes representing 1.09 per cent; Mr Yeboah fifth with 2,790 votes representing 0.98 per cent; Dr. Lartey sixth with 2,610 votes representing 0.92 per cent; Dr Sakara seventh with 813 votes representing 0.29 per cent and Mr Odike eighth with 534 votes representing 0.19 per cent.

     President Mahama won the Upper East Region with 274,019 votes representing 66.44 per cent; Nana Akufo Addo second with 120,814 votes representing 29.29 per cent; and Mr Ayariga third with 8,017 votes representing 1.94 per cent.

     Dr Lartey was fourth with 3,026 votes representing 0.73 per cent; Dr Nduom fifth with 2,805 votes representing 0.68 per cent; Mr Yeboah sixth with 1,426 votes representing 0.35 per cent; Mr Odike seventh with 1,232 votes representing 0.30 per cent and Dr Sakara last with 1,098 votes representing 0.27 per cent.

     President Mahama won the Northern Region with 570,602 votes representing 58.23 per cent; followed by Nana Akufo Addo with 383,263 votes representing 39.11 per cent and Dr Nduom third with 7,303 votes representing 0.75 per cent.

     Dr Lartey placed fourth with 6,277 votes representing 0.64 per cent; Dr

Sakara fifth with 4,145 votes representing 0.42 per cent; Mr Ayariga sixth with 3,357 votes representing 0.34 per cent; Mr Yeboah seventh with 3,111 votes representing 0.32 per cent and Mr Odike last with 1,920 votes representing 0.20per cent.

      Nana Akufo-Addo obtained 1,531,152 valid votes cast in the Ashanti Region representing 70.86 per cent with President Mahama obtaining 612,616 votes representing 28.35 per cent.

    Dr Nduom was third with 6,594 votes representing 0.31 per cent; Dr Lartey placed fourth with 5,483 votes representing 0.25 per cent; and Dr Sakara fifth with 1,802 votes representing 0.08 per cent.

    Mr Ayariga placed sixth with 1,355 votes representing 0.06 per cent; Mr Odike was seventh with 1.095 votes representing 0.05 per cent; and Mr Yeboah eighth with 823 votes representing 0.04 per cent.

     In the Eastern region; Nana Akufo-Addo obtained 641,074 votes representing 56.30 per cent; President Mahama obtained 485,187 votes representing 42.61 per cent; Dr Nduom placed third with 4,923 votes representing 0.43 per cent.

     Dr. Lartey placed fourth with 3,753 votes representing 0.33; Dr Sakara fifth with 1,319 representing 0.12 per cent; Mr Ayariga sixth with 1,016, representing 0.09 per cent; Mr Yeboah seventh with 820 votes representing 0.07 per cent and Mr Odike eighth with 611 votes representing 0.05 per cent.
