Shama (W/R), Sept.4, GNA - Egyapa Buah, Executive Director of the Support for Community Mobilization Projects and Programmes (SCMPP) has advised the public against taking advantage of physically challenged females and sexually abuse them.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Shama, he said people sometimes sexually abuse female physically challenge persons on the pretext of giving them assistance.
Egyapa Buah said there have been cases when female physically challenged persons became pregnant through sexual abuse and the men who impregnated them refuse to accept the responsibility.
He urged female physically challenged persons who are in such situations to make a report to the Departments of Women and Children’s Affairs, Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) and the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ).
Egyapa Buah urged parents who have physically challenged children to educate them and ensure that they are equipped with employable skills to enable them make a living.
