Tema, May 7, GNA - Mr Gabriel Manu, Tema Metropolitan Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), on Monday urged registered voters who could not be issued with their cards to exercise restraint.
He gave the assurance that the Commission would address the problem and their cards would be given to them soon.
Mr Manu made this known in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Tema.
Following the shortage of laminates nationwide during the just-ended Biometric Voter Registration exercise, the Commission was unable to issue some of the registered voters with their identity cards.
As a result, he said, the EC took down the names and contact numbers of the affected registrants, and assured them that as soon as the laminates became available, their cards would be processed and forwarded to them.
On the total number of registered voters within the Metropolis, Mr Manu said the provisional figure stood at 318,000.
Turning to the Voter Exhibition to be mounted by the EC nationwide, the Metro Director explained that the exercise would enable registered voters to know where they would be casting their votes in December.
He, therefore, urged Ghanaians to take advantage of the exercise.
