Accra, May 18, GNA – Papa Owusu Ankomah, NPP Member of Parliament for Sekondi on Friday said Ministers of State who fail to answer Parliamentary questions admitted to them constitutes an abuse of Executive power.
He said there were sanctions that could be placed on those who failed to answer questions over long periods.
Papa Owusu Ankomah was contributing to a concern in Parliament, raised by Mr Joseph Boahen Aidoo, NPP Member of Parliament for Amenfi East, who wanted to know why some questions had not been answered over two years now.
He said since Parliament reconvened, most government business that had engaged the House had been the problem of questions not being answered.
Papa Owusu Ankomah questioned the relevance of those questions and why Ministers of State who were to answer them failed to do so and what Parliament was doing about such questions and the attitude of the Ministers of State.
Mr Yaw Owusu Boateng, NPP Member of Parliament for Akim Oda said he filed some questions a long time ago but had not been answered.
Alhaji Rashid Pelpuo, Deputy Majority Leader called on members to ensure that questions filed reach the Ministers of State, adding that, such questions must be listed on the Order paper.
