Peki-Avetile (V/R), June 27, GNA - The chiefs and people of Peki have called on government to suspend the inauguration of the newly created Ho West District Assembly.
They said communities from Kpetornu to Dededo, which are Peki settlements be placed under the South-Dayi District instead of the newly created Ho West District Assembly adding that should the inauguration proceed with the inclusion of the settlements, then disorder could be created in the area.
These were contained in a statement signed and read by Togbe Ayim Mordey VI, Adontenhene, on behalf of Togbe Kwadwo Dei XI Deiga of the Peki Traditional area at the Avetile Community centre on Tuesday.
The statement said while the determination of the ownership of the land is still in court, the government went ahead to carve out part of the Traditional Peki land and ceded it to the other party, “our opponents” who form part of the Ho-West District Assembly which was created out of the Ho Municipal Assembly.
The statement said the Pekis drew attention of government to the matter when it got to their notice that the communities from Dededo to Kpetornu were to be included in the proposed Ho-West District but only got a verbal assurance from government that the concern would be solved.
“We wish to state that until the final determination of the substantive land case between Peki and Awudome. All Peki towns and settlements be put under South Dayi District Assembly to maintain the status quo.” The statement said.
