Aburi (E/R), July 27, GNA - The Christians Friends of Democracy, a Civil Society Organization, has expressed its happiness at the unity displayed by the various sections of the entire country during the sudden death of President Mills.
The Organization said such unity of purpose and nationalism need to be encouraged and promoted and expressed the hope that the political parties in the country would always support each other in the development of our society.
The National President of the Society, Reverend Samuel Adjei, said this in an interaction with the GNA on recent events in the country since the death of President Mills.
He appealed to media houses not to allow their platforms to be used by people to make statements that could create confusion and further distress Ghanaians as we mourn our great loss.
Rev Adjei said it was time that the political parties demonstrate their belief in promoting a democratic culture in the country by bringing to book any of their members who would use the airways to vilify and insult people for just expressing opinions which are different from theirs.
He appealed to politicians and radio commentators in the country to stop the blame game and the name calling over the death of the president saying such activities would not benefit the country.
Rev Adjei congratulated Mr John Dramani Mahama on his swearing-in as the President of the Republic of Ghana and expressed the hope that having worked with the late president, he could be the reliable one to continue with his works to bring relief and happiness to the people of Ghana.
He said it was becoming clear that no one political party could have all the solution to the many challenges facing the country and that it was time that any political party that wins the elections, must have the courage to select people with the best qualities to manage the affairs of the country even if it means extending hands to others in the minority.
