Nduom calls for Late President Mills to be buried at Otuam

Otuam (C/R), July 30, GNA- Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, Flag bearer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) on Monday suggested that the body of the late President, Professor John Evans Atta Mills be buried at Otuam his hometown in the Central Region.

He said this could attract a lot of people from within and outside Ghana to the area and eventually bring development there.

Dr. Nduom made the suggestion when he visited the Odomna family (family of the late President) at the family house at Otuam in the Ekumfi Constituency in the Central Region, in the company of more than 50 members of the PPP, including both the Regional and National Executives as well as Parliamentary candidates.

Dr. Nduom together with his entourage, as well as the Odomna family, were all clad in red and black clothing with the people of the town gathered to witness the meeting.

He said a museum should be built in honour of the late President to always remind Ghanaians of the” good person he was” and the fact that he brought honour to all Ghanaians, particularly the Central Region.

He promised to build a community centre for the area as soon as possible if land was made available, where photos of Prof. Mills would be displayed in his honour.

Dr. Nduom presented the family with bottles of schnapps, bags of rice, crates of drinks as well as an undisclosed amount of money.

Mbrentsehen Kojo Mensah, who spoke on behalf the Odomna family, said the passing on of Prof. Atta Mills came as a shock to all of them but all the same gave thanks to God for everything since He knows best.

He  supported Dr. Nduom’s suggestion and was also hopeful Prof. Mills would be buried in his hometown, adding that, land was readily available and gave Dr. Nduom the ‘go-ahead’ to put up the community centre in honour of the late President .

Dr. Nduom and his entourage later visited the Twidan Family of the late President at their family house at Nkanfoa, where he reiterated calls for Prof. Mills to be buried in his hometown.

He expressed his condolence to the family and said they could count on him at any time to help in the funeral arrangements, adding that, he would not remember the late Prof. as a politician but rather a pacesetter and father of all.

He later signed a book of condolence that had been opened at the house and also presented the family with four bags of rice, eight cartons of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages as well as an undisclosed amount of money.

The family expressed its gratitude to Dr. Nduom and his entourage for the visit and the gifts.
